Mindy Kaling shared a message of support for Ben Affleck during her appearance as host at the 2024 Democratic National Convention in Chicago. While delivering her speech, Kaling took a moment to celebrate her home state of Massachusetts and its prominent figures.
“I couldn’t leave here without giving a shoutout to the amazing delegation from my home state Massachusetts,” Kaling exclaimed energetically from the podium. “I love you Massachusetts!”
After expressing admiration for the Boston Red Sox and Boston Celtics player Jayson Tatum, Kaling turned her attention to Affleck, saying, “Ben Affleck, hang in there.”
This supportive remark came in the wake of news that Jennifer Lopez had filed for divorce from Affleck earlier in the week. The couple, who had been married for two years, saw Lopez’s filing coincide with the anniversary of their Riceboro, Georgia wedding ceremony. This ceremony followed their Las Vegas elopement a month earlier in 2022.
Affleck and Lopez had previously been engaged over 20 years ago after meeting on the set of the comedy “Gigli.” Their 2003 wedding plans were eventually canceled due to “excessive media attention.”
In addition to her message for Affleck, Kaling also took a moment to highlight her love for Dunkin’ Donuts, remarking, “Dunkin’ Donuts is the best coffee in the world.” This comment not only celebrated the popular Massachusetts-based chain but also seemed to nod to Affleck’s highly memorable and often meme-worthy commercials for the brand.
